El Salto Mexican - Schererville

I had a wonderful dining experience! I tried the shrimp tacos, and they were absolutely fantastic. The salsa and margarita were both excellent as well. Our server, Maria, was friendly and engaging. All in all, I would give the food a perfect 5 out of 5!

The food here is consistently excellent, but I do find the prices to be quite steep. For example, a burrito costs $16.99 and doesn't come with any sides; I had to pay extra for rice and refried beans. They also add a tip to the bill without any prior notice, and there's an extra fee for using a credit or debit card. Honestly, I wouldn't have tipped $20 for service that required me to ask another server for help during the meal. To make matters worse, they charged $8 for a small bowl of guacamole. Overall, my bill ended up being $100 for two adults and a 4-year-old, which feels excessive.

My bartender Sarah was attentive, alert, and friendly—not overly enthusiastic—but she made my visit enjoyable. The food was delicious; the chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of spice. They even asked which type of hot sauce I preferred. Overall, I give it a strong thumbs up all around! Food: 5/5.

Moving from IL, I was looking for a new Mexican restaurant I like and I found it! I am not Mexican and found the food very tasty but my Mexican friend said it was just OK. I little pricy though. Anyway, I will go back and hope to be able to enjoy dinning outside in summer!!Food: 4/5

To start off, the restaurant itself was dirty, the floors, the seats, and the table. I understand that it was towards closing time but not an excuse not to clean up a bit, especially if you are sitting guests. I had the chicken fajita nachos, the flavor wasn't all that, and the cocktail shrimp also lacked in flavor. I didn't bother with any photos.
