The Galley - Severn

There are a few places in the area that serve Fish / Chips. The Galley with their Halibut and freshly cut fries is the best. Large portions and the batter on the fish is very light. Sit out on the deck on a nice day or enjoy indoors. Weekends only.

Since the renovation this year, we've dined at The Galley several times, and have always left with happy, full bellies and a smile on our faces. Service was fantastic (yes, Cathy!), and the fish and chips delish! The new patio is right in line with the new menu — everything is really great and we look forward to frequenting next season. :)

Great patio - we had clam chowder and halibut which were delicious. Friendly service and great atmosphere. The patio was great addition this year!

It was overcast and the boy and I just didn't feel like cooking so we ambled on over to the Galley to try out their new patio. I could never figure out why someone would serve Halibut here when we're in the heart of beautiful whitefish country. Now I know. Because when it's done right, it's spectacular!!!!The service was fast and we were seated on the new patio (somebody unloaded some coin on this one - it's beautiful). There was music (not overly intrusive) and a simple but tempting menu. The boy had the chicken fingers and a coke, I had a draft and tried a small order of the halibut. Wow. Was I surprised. The Halibut was beautiful. Fresh, meaty, just the right amount of crispy batter- not the gloopy mess that is so common elsewhere and killer hand cut fries. Cooked right - not too well done, not too soft. It's amazing how hard it is to find good fries. These were good. Crunchy coleslaw, again with just the right amount of dressing - not swimming in it. Everything was perfect. Perfect. This place should be WAY busier than it is and it will be as soon as word spreads. That other damned place in Port Severn just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm so glad there is another boat access restaurant up here now. You'll get my money all day long. Thanks for a great evening. Ice cream too!

We go here all the time and enjoy the food and now they have a new deck over the water which we love. We will keep coming back - way better than the Grill down the road. Great service as well.
