Kelp - SHOAL BAY

Awesome food, terrible customer service. we ordered at 2 o’clock and received 2 out of the 4 meals at 2:30, half an hour later. if the restaurant was busy we wouldn’t be complaining but there was only one other table expecting food there. 2:40 rolls around and the other two members of our group hadn’t received their meals yet. someone from our group went to the counter to ask about the meals and we got a “it’ll be done soon”. so we waited another 10 minutes, and one of the last two meals arrived. and then someone from our group asked AGAIN about the 4th meal and we got “we’re bringing it out now” followed by 5 more minutes of waiting for that meal. in the end the food was nice but we won’t be going back, two of us had completely finished our food by the time the other two meals finally came.

Great coffee, smashed avo and feta was delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. Beautiful view of Mt Tomaree and Shoal Bay from the outdoor tables, providing an excellent spot to relax and watch the world pass by.

Had to wait 50 minutes for an undercooked lasagne (which we were made to pay for) when the restaurant was almost empty and everyone else at our table had finished eating. For compensation we were given garlic bread, which the menu claimed was 'sourdough smothered in garlic butter ', despite its uncanny resemblance to coles brand garlic bread. Also, on the menu, the margherita pizza claimed to have fresh basil on it, which was nowhere to be seen when the pizza arrived.

Went in there late this afternoon today and the young blonde hair barista wasn’t friendly at all and was complaining in front of me and my brother that she isn’t going to serve any more people! Made me feel quite uncomfortable and awkward! Lastly she charged $13 for two large coffees! Way over priced! 1/5 stars! Please avoid!

Nice outlook and enjoyable atmosphere, but pretty terrible coffee.
