El Jalisco Mexican - Simpsonville

El Jalisco is a weekly must have! It’s classic Mexican food that everyone will love and want to come back for. Great for all ages at all times of the day.

I don’t leave bad reviews especially with small restaurants but this is actually the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Staff was friendly but the food just was not good. We also ordered an extra side of rice and beans thinking it would be $3.25 but it was actually $3.25 for the rice and another $3.25 for the beans and no the portions were not big. I would never pay $6.50 for a side of rice and beans and when I asked about it they wouldn’t budge on the extra $3.25.

Update: March 17, 2024. Such a shame! Just lowered my rating from a 2 star to a one!. This place could truly be a goldmine, but the workers just don 't care! Wake up you owners!!! The people you have working for you are going to put you out of business!!! THEY JUST DON 'T CARE!!!! Please look at your reviews! Yeah, I know, they 've all been there for 20+ years but you 've got to learn how to MANAGE these people and get this place where it should be. The food is just terrible! The beer is bad too because they don 't clean the tap lines! Very important detail for good beer! Please get your act together and this place will flourish! If there was any real competition in five forks you guys would be out of business. Please get it together!Owners: Please take this feedback sincerely. I don 't want to criticize, but you have so much potential being the only real Mexican place in five forks. Great bar area and cool looking place inside. Not sure what the problem is, but the food and service have so much room for improvement! Please taste some of the food that goes out to your customer 's tables. I live in the five forks area and, unfortunately, I 've only eaten here maybe four times in the last five years because the food is just mediocre. Because of this the wife and I will drive a little further to go somewhere else. It 's like the cooks and staff have just given up. No real passion for cooking good, fresh Mexican food. Please go and eat at one of your competition 's places and you 'll know exactly what I 'm talking about. You guys could really pack this place every night with some serious changes. Please stop being just mediocre when you have one of the best areas and so much potential for a really great Mexican restaurant! Put out great, fresh Mexican food and great customer service and you 'll pack the place!

I wanted to like this place because we live in five forks and we love Mexican food. Unfortunately, the food was terrible, twi of us ended up in the bathroom an hour after eating here. My enchiladas were made with canned chicken and now I wonder what other short cuts they are taking. Sadly, we won't be returning unless the food drastically improves.
