Resto-Bar La Trappe - SLEMON PARK

Went there this past Friday and would not go back based on food quality,decor and noise.We were there when a wedding was going on and to listen to AC/DC playing in the background did not endear the place to us.Our table and chairs seemed to be a cheap patio set from Walmart and out table was not balanced thus was tipping all over the place. There were only 2 items on the menu that were vegetarian which limited my options thus went with vegi stir fry.....it was made with Uncle Bens rice...........sweet baby jesus......... My friend ordered an acadian dish and the waitress whom was fantastic, came back and told him that they did not have it available.......first time I have come across that.....My wife and her friend ordered 6 oysters and they were drenched in cheese and you had to fight to find the oyster............not good.........for 12 bucks........Uncle Bens riceMy wife had an acadian dish that was some type of gumbo and she could not finish it as it was so bad.I keep on going back to the Uncle Bens rice and for the life of me cannot understand how restaurants can get away with this type of food product and pawn it off as food with a few frozen vegetabels thrown in thus making it a stir fry.........This place was not worth the price,the drive and the quality that we put out that nite.Do NOT even grace its doors.Plus there were about 15 obese Acadians at the wedding whom were smoking right outside the door which SHOULD have told us right off that it was not going to be good.

After viewing the Bottle Houses it was recommended we visit La Trappe for Acadian food. It was a nice experience. Evangeline clam pie and Meat pie Both were very good and served with a fresh bun with butter. Baked goods are also sold...there bread, buns and cookies. We bought Molasses Cookies. Soft and flavorful a real treat. Afterwards we went next door to the barn to listen to fabulous toe tapping, hand clapping traditional Acadian music. Piano, harmonica, guitar, accordian. It was wonderful. They play and pm. Entrance...or I should say exit is by donation and their music is available for purchase. What a wonderful way to experience the culture of the Acadians on PEI.

We came to the Acadian Musical Village to hear the music in the Barn but wanted to have lunch before hand. Walked into the restaurant to the sound of great music being played on the stage there! Fiddler and guitarist were so good...primed us for the show later. Now to the food. We decided that we should try some of the Acadian menu items and choose the bar clam pie and a dish called rapure. Rapure is a mixture of grated potatoes and pork which is baked until the crust is crispy. That was good but it would have been better with some onion in it. (Onions are kind of like bacon...everything is better with onions)! The bar clam pie was lots of chopped clams in a thick bechamel sauce baked in a pie crust...could be a hand held pie. It was very tasty. For dessert, my husband had a dessert poutine. Various fruits in a pastry with sauce and I had bread pudding with a maple syrup sauce. Yummy! Now we were ready for the show in the Barn!

My family went for supper. We ordered one kids meal, the burger meat portion is small and over burned, but chief refuse to redo it. We will not go back.
