Salt Stone - Sonoma County

I was expecting more from this place judging from reviews, apparently it's overated. The worst Poke bowl we've had in a while. Fish wasn't fresh and rice was soggy with too much vinegar. One of us got sick from it... Gnocchi had way too much salt and we took a few bites and left the rest. Service was decent and the ambience was pretty nice.

I've been to Salt Stone many times and it's always great. Yesterday was my first time with my college grad daughter and she was amazed by the views, the koi pond and the dragonflies. Glad the restaurant also arranged for perfect weather : . There's no better place to show off the Sonoma Valley!

This is my favorite restaurant in the Sonoma area. I love the food, ambience and service. Sadly, when I came in, I sat at the bar...the bartender was anything but friendly. There was definitely a mean under current stemming from him. We would have stayed longer but he had such bad energy I decided we should go to our table. Makes sense that the is on a Thursday night shift and not Friday ans Saturday. Food was great as usual. Nice presentation...service was great. Only issue I had was our bill was placed on our table when we were still eating. No mention of, would you like anything else...had he waited 10 more minutes and let us bring our dinner to a nice close that would have been optimum. That's why I gave a 4.

We were in Santa Rosa for 3 nights and only ate out twice both times at Salt Stone on the lovely patio. Lunch one day really enjoyed the Louie salad with shrimp, crab and prawns. Dinner the next day with the most amazing service from a server named Mauricio. He was world class! Very knowledgeable about the food, cocktails and wine. Made excellent suggestions and was constantly checking on us. Great views of the vineyards and a lovely pond/fountain that added to the ambience.

Enjoyed their brunch, sitting in their outdoor patio area with water element. Friendly service. Best butter lettuce salad and fish tacos I've ever had. Great flavor, appealing presentation. Try it!
