Bidra med feedbackWe had a delightful dinner at Taguchi-Ya in Totnes. We loved the set menu of the day, which you can find details of on the chalk board when you enter. We also shared some small plates and kimchi. The meal was finished with a delicious glass of umeshu that had a plum inside.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant for the second time now. The food is delicious, inventive, and rejuvenating. It is a popular spot and always bustling, thanks to the amazing food and the exceptional service provided by Alison, who is at the front of house. She is fantastic, informative, knowledgeable, and most importantly, very kind. This restaurant accommodates alternative diets, such as my wife's gluten, egg, and dairy free requirements. Thank you all for a wonderful evening.
We booked this before we arrived and we glad we did as it’s a very small restaurant and clearly very popular with locals . As not to au fait with Japanese food we went for the set meals with one of us having the fish in tempura batter and the other mackerel in a chilli sauce . Both were absolutely delicious . They came with miso soup, rice and four sides . Looking at what others were having off the main menu I wish we lived nearby as I would love to try some of the others things we saw people eating. .We also tried green tea with toasted rice for the first time which had a really nutty , malty flavour . A great find slightly off the Main Street at the bottom of the town
Having been disappointed by a few other restaurants in the area we stumbled into this gorgeous little restaurant. Enquired about a table to be advised that none were available. With bowed heads we started to accept our hungry fate. However the amazing lady serving suggested we come back in 10 mins as there may be a space. So that's what we did! A few more minutes later than 10 mins we returned and indeed a table was now available. We both like Japanese cuisine anyway but the food we sampled from here was absolutely outstanding. All tasted freshly cooked and lovingly prepared. This is well worth a visit and a return visit when next in the area.
Loved the small and lowkey vibe of the restaurant staff were really friendly and kind and the food was delicious! Loved the pork belly donburi and the ramune soda. The sake was very delicious and the miso soup was very rich. Thanks for an amazing meal and atmosphere!
