Cartmel Coffee - South Lakeland

I’m sending a trend in the comments in terms of the attitude of staff in this cafe. Experienced a very rude member of staff who wanted to know what time we were leaving! Lost for words. Small cafes wonder why they lose out to the chains but you just get left in peace to go about your business! Also £2.70 for a can of coke! Fortunately the pub opposite was altogether more friendly and accommodating!

We stayed in Cartmel for a few days and visited Cartmel Coffee a couple of times. Coffee was reasonable and there was a good range of cakes (the scones were pretty good). You can choose to sit inside, at the small tables on the town square, or in the more spacious and tranquil outdoor area equipped with wooden benches and umbrellas

Very disappointing takeaway coffee experience! Charged my son £3.99 for an oat latte which was unbelievably small. Same size as small from every other coffee place known to man, costa, Nero, Starbucks etc. when we questioned it she said all their coffees were the same size. This was totally untrue as we could see various size mugs and cups on the tables inside!! Clearly they only have a few paper takeaway cups and thought they could get away with charging such a ridiculous price for it. Tourist rip-offs really annoy me. We decided to eat elsewhere. Had another bad experience in Cartmel (see other review for Halo). In our week break to the Lakes we only had two bad experiences- both in Cartmel. Not sure what that means. Step up your game!

Great time at this restaurant. The staff are very attentive and go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful experience.

Had spicy tomatoe soup which came with a lovely fresh cheese scone .both tasty and nice hot latte .
