Stramongate Chip Shop - South Lakeland

I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh haddock with a tasty breadcrumb coating at this restaurant. The fries were also good and the overall meal was delicious. The shopkeeper was friendly as well.

We typically frequent another fish and chip place in Kendal that we love. However, due to it being Easter Sunday, we had to try this one. The fish batter was excessively greasy and the portion size was small. The only positive note was that the fish itself was decent. Unfortunately, the chips were mostly dark brown or black and had a terrible taste, a strange combination of overcooked and cold. We won't be returning.

We ordered our meal based on the reviews on this site and we were not disappointed. The fish and chips were delicious and we would definitely recommend them. Thank you, Colin.
