The Giggling Goose Cafe

The service at this restaurant was disappointing. The waitress claimed she was too busy to take our order without a table number, despite there being only 6 tables to choose from. After walking back downstairs to the garden to check the table number, we found that the soup was overly salty and the scone was damp, possibly microwaved.

Upon our arrival, we received a cold welcome, making us feel like a bother. Our request for a frothy cappuccino seemed to be too much to ask for. When asked for our table number, we mentioned that we were planning to sit outside, where it was empty at the time. The staff impatiently insisted that we guess a number, assuming we knew how the tables were numbered. The atmosphere among the staff was unpleasant and the coffee was subpar. Despite the potential for a lovely outdoor seating area near the stream, it was marred by litter (even at 9:30am). If you are looking for a warm welcome and a pleasant atmosphere, this may not be the place for you.

Without doubt the worst customer service we have experienced. The staff were so unfriendly our kids literally refuse to visit Ambleside again!! Little surprise this unique and beautiful terrace was empty. should have known …If it looks to good to be true… it was!! We arrived for lunch carrying coffee cups and the staff welcomed us instructing that we don’t drink the coffee there and to take the cups with us. That was our welcome. After spending £40 on lunch the staff member then instructed that my daughter moved from a chair next to us as she was next to a vacant table. The terrace was empty and she was sitting there, while we waited for the food to arrive. The food was good, location lovely but the staff need to reconsider their career choices. Such a shame !!

We stopped by for a coffee but couldn't resist trying the delicious homemade cheese and onion soup. My partner opted for a sausage bap, which was also very tasty. The staff was friendly and our dog was made to feel welcome. I would definitely recommend this place.

Tried to find a pub/Hotel to lunch most closed or no staff.found this place by chance as we wanted a coffee.pulled pork great,as was the fish finger sandwich.
