Bidra med feedbackGreat food but a disgusting service charge of 12% on a bill of over £350 took the polish of the meal No notification of this charge anywhere to be seen Will have to think twice before another visit Be careful Does this charge go to the staff or does it go into the landlords pocket ?
The schnitzel was absolutely delicious- a clever idea that resulted in fantastic food. The pub had a great atmosphere with quirky decor. Definitely recommend a visit, as we will be returning again.
I went to the Red Lion for Sunday lunch. The starters were delicious, but at £9-10 with a 12% service charge, they felt a bit overpriced for pub food. The main course was tasty, but could have been served hotter. The service charge added extra expense and seemed unnecessary. I would visit again and hope that the service charge is removed from the menu and not advertised on the website.
We had Sunday lunch at the Red Lion for over £20 and found it to be very overpriced. We were surprised by the service charge, which seemed like an unnecessary extra cost. The beef was tasty but had a lot of gristle, requiring a steak knife to cut through. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were both soggy, indicating they had been cooked hours before. When we asked for horseradish, it took over 5 minutes for it to be brought to our table. Overall, the quality of the food was disappointing compared to previous visits. If this is now the standard at the Red Lion, we may not return in the future. We did not complain at the time as we prefer to avoid confrontation, but a good restaurant should get it right the first time.
Plain fare, nothing exceptional. Rather limited menu. Staff pleasant enough, but service very slow. 12% service charged although not mentioned anywhere on website or menu. Rather overpriced for the experience.
