The Stables Of Como - South Yarra

I made a reservation through OpenTable, but they didn’t have it on record. On a sweltering 38-degree day, we had to request cold water, and we asked three times for cutlery after our meal. When it still didn’t arrive, we ended up getting it ourselves. This was quite disappointing, especially considering my previous visits here had been wonderful.

We arrived at 1 PM and waited until 3 PM without receiving our meal. Our order was "lost in the system." Although it was a busy day, we noticed that other diners who arrived after us were being served before us. We inquired about our order several times, and in the meantime, we were given a bottle of wine!

The staff were friendly and helpful but new and possibly understaffed which made the service a little slow. (It wasn’t a problem given the congenial surroundings. The toilets were wet but I’m not sure who is responsible for them. It was like they’d been mopped but there was no airflow or warmth to dry them.

The booking system was great. When we arrived we were seated under a music speaker which was too loud. We were able to be relocated. The meal was good but then we had cakes/coffee. The red velvet cake was dry, almost stale. Disappointing. The staff were pleasant.

Excellent restaurant within the grounds of the Como Estate. Incredible atmosphere, delicious food and great service. A perfect place for Sunday brunch!
