Maximilian - Speyer

The Maximilian in Speyer is located directly on the Altpörtel. The restaurant is always well visited. You can eat delicious breakfasts, small dishes or salads and drink cocktails in the evening. The service is friendly and tries to operate quite quickly. Although prices are somewhat high, they are justified by the situation and quality.

We had Caesar-Salad, Flammkuchen, Weißwein von Dürklin-Wolf and alkfree beer. The dressing at the salad was unfortunately too much and the flame cake was not coppery, but too soft and liquid. The wine was okay. However, the beautiful furnishings and pleasant atmosphere are unbeatable. Operation was fast and polite, but seemed a little superficial.

Maximilian belongs to the locals in Speyer. There you get everything from breakfast to cocktail. Often there are theme weeks like Oktoberfest, Palatinate, Spain etc. The card offers a good selection, and both the various drinks and meals are recommended. It is very cozy there too breakfast. The prices are a bit high, probably due to the good name and location. Due to its popularity, it is more often a bit full, tight and loud. The service is good outside the peak hours.

Last weekend we stayed in a group of about 25 people for breakfast in Maximillian. The service was modest: It took about 30 minutes until the first of us were able to give up their order, the rest was ignored and could only order another 20 minute later, after we expressed our desire for operation on the counter. The operation was clearly overwhelmed. Even an ordered water only came to demand for about 20-25 minutes. Which breakfast belonged to who, you had to guess. For 2 people there was a bread basket, even if the two people did not sit next to each other. It was necessary to check several times whether everything was brought in the breakfast and repeatedly ask. The portions were small and sweet. After all had paid, there were 2 drinks left for more than 2 euros that were not to be assigned. The service insisted that we paid, which is why we have put together to avoid further trouble. How should we know who ordered the drinks and whether they were not accidentally booked on our table? After all, not all of our drinks were booked on our table and we still paid them! That none of us have to pay for what he did not consume seems to be of interest to anyone. The ambience is very nice, outside and inside. It doesn't save the bad rating. I cannot recommend the Maximillian!
