St Clements - ST. LEONARDS-ON-SEA

The restaurant was full in the sat night my partner and I visited; we had the early session 7 9 a.m. Service was friendly and efficient. However, the food was mixed. The wood-tauben salad start and the brilliance main of my partner were both excellent, especially the brilliance in its beautiful crab cream sauce. However, my duck potterine was average, while my slowly cooked pig belly, was largely fat with very little meat at all. Both were disappointed. Overall, however, I would recommend this restaurant, but would probably stay on the fish if I had the opportunity to return (we are not from the area).

We were looking forward to a return trip to St. Clements, which has not been for dinner for several years. When we arrived, the restaurant was back for a big party (20 with just a few smaller tables to one side. The group was loud and drunk, swearing and generally tasteless! We had a main course each and went fast. While I'm for restaurants that deserve money, it would have been much better if St Clements had closed for a private party for the night. I would have been disappointed that I could not go there for dinner, but not as disappointed as I did with the service and experience that we ended. Poor show!

After we were recommended by our b and b, we enjoyed the quality of simple fresh fish dishes that were served us. Beautiful atmosphere, and very pleasant and flexible with our booking change in advance. The only drawback was what became a fairly long wait for the main after the starter, annoying the rhythm of the meal (you know when you start to ask why the food did not come that it was too long. We might have been unhappy, but the staff was nice and the food was excellent.

Food, ambience and service were all very good, we want back. We visited a special occasion and were not disappointed. We also had very good wine recommendations perfect for eating locally caught fresh fish and great interesting salad. The only regret I have is that I had no room for the desert that sounded tasty, I just have to asap again!
