Bidra med feedbackFor a week's stay in the Engadin, I had lunch here four times. The ride to the chairlift for 2 of these visits was great. The hikes from different points were beautiful. The food was equally excellent and in some cases spectacular.... On a beautiful day, the outdoor seats offer a spectacular view. The views from inside are also great, but without the air and the sun. Service was top notch....friendly, helpful and professional. Tip: book in advance on beautiful days or arrive early (at 12:00 or after 1:30) as the place is a destination. Also ask what the cook thinks is the real special....it will be great.
The food is very good and is based on the local kitchen with a sympathetic update. The atmosphere is smartly casual, but with a well-dressed crowd as it is based on the hotel that is a tad formal. I ate there several times about the course of a week and most days of service was excellent, although in the strange night when Mr Werner was not up, it was slow. The food portions are large so that you do not eat (or not) more than one course, unless you are really hungry or share. The Raclette Night is fabulous and if you love cheese, it's a must, but if you don't: don't go.
We arrived in St. Moritz and lived in a hotel opposite Survetta House. We didn't have many options, so for lunch. When we went to the hotel, the staff was not very friendly and we were directed down to the stick....They turned around when our waitress appeared, she couldn't have been nicer. We had a pasta, a sandwich, a glass of wine and a beer and it basically came to $100. I suppose if you stay at this hotel, that'll be expected. I was a little withdrawn, but it was very comfortable, the service was excellent and the food was good.
We love eating us. Doesn't really know why, except it's fun and exciting to try something else. We had booked the dinner in La Stalla (see review) in the city, had an excellent lunch there last year, just been treated... like unwanted ugly step children. No one puts baby in the corner so much to the shock of the staff we stood up and left. My wife suggested that we simply return to the Suvretta House (see review) and eat in the Stube. Why not... we hadn't eaten there except for my wife who had lunch while skiing... and it was our night before we drove to Zurich. Oh, my! Great! At first the host was absolutely charming and, after we show ourselves on our table, asked if it was satisfactory! Nice touch, son! And then the food. We had Fondue Chinoise and it was great! Honestly, I wish we had eaten more food there. We'll be next year! Atmosphere and decor was also excellent. I couldn't recommend it more enthusiastic. Thank you, La Stalla!
This hotel is exceptional. I am struggling to find a starting point for all my praise. The staff are so friendly, so helpful and so competent. Nothing is a bother. The hotel itself is beautiful with fantastic rooms, service, breakfast, spa area and situated just a few minutes outside of the town of St. Moritz. I have been blessed in my life and have stayed at a few very good hotels, but Suvretta House takes the crown as the best. Thank you for making my stay so perfect.
