Otto's Pub And Brewery - State College

Contrary to some other reviews, we found that there were plenty of options at this restaurant! We enjoyed dishes like tofu wings with two sauce choices, a tempeh cheesesteak, a tempeh Reuben, a soba noodle bowl, a crispy tofu bowl, a Beyond burger with vegan cheese, bacon, and crispy onions, and the option to build a pizza with a variety of toppings including vegan mozzarella. In addition to the delicious food options, this restaurant also doubles as a brewery with a wide selection of locally made beers and homemade sodas to choose from.

We decided to eat at this restaurant after reading an old review that mentioned they had a portobello burger and a walnut burger. The menu was clearly labeled, but I was disappointed to find only a few vegan options available. We ended up ordering the Beyond Burger, which had delicious barbecue sauce, but we are not big fans of Beyond Burgers. We were not in the mood for a soba bowl or salad. The service was friendly, but there were no vegan dessert options, which is a bit of a letdown. Truly vegan-friendly restaurants should have options in every category. It was strange to be offered dessert only to be told there were none available. We probably won't be coming back here.

We went to this restaurant for some light bites and drinks. The house salad is large and made with spring mix, and you have the option to add tofu. The tofu wings are breaded sticks of tofu that are simple yet delicious. I plan on trying the soba noodles on my next visit since the walnut burger is no longer available. I was looking forward to having it on my salad. They offer several vegan dressings and the service was extremely friendly. I appreciated that the menu clearly marks items that are vegan with a V and vegetarian with VG. It would be helpful if these codes were universal, as different places interpret them differently. There is ample parking available at this restaurant.

I had the soba noodles with added tofu…very good. There weren’t a lot of choices, but I was pleased with what I ate. This is clearly a popular place in town… had to wait about a half hour to get a table and it was somewhat noisy. 

Several vegan options. Had the Cowgirl Burger (impossible burger) which was amazing! And they even cooked it separate away from the meats when I asked. Tofu wings were so yummy!! Great service!!! Would give if this allowed me.
