Famous Ernie's Steaks - State College

They make very good cheesesteaks! I see other people comment on them being very salty which I find to be true if you get cheese wiz. Their cheesesteak with American cheese is where it?s at! Will definitely be back!

There were a couple of minor complaints. First, as a takeout place, I expected them to include plenty of napkins, especially considering the messiness of cheesesteaks. They also didn’t have any plastic forks for the salad. The main issue, which cost them a star, was that there was a hair in one of the sandwiches. While it might have been one of ours, it seemed unlikely.

The cheesesteak was disappointing. The meat was mushy and there was far too much oil.

This is the best cheesesteak in Centre County, and possibly in all of Central PA. You have to get it with just onions and Cheez Whiz—nothing else!

Don't bother trying to order takeout over the phone. They've recently changed their policy and will only serve you if you're in person at the restaurant. It seems that the only customers they care about are students, completely ignoring the local residents who have dined there for years.
