Bidra med feedbackPersonally, I managed to have just two slices of salmon, a couple of spoonfuls of salad, a small portion of mashed potatoes with a tiny piece of fish, and a lamb chop. As someone who usually eats quite a bit, I can safely say that it was not worth the amount we paid per plate. Additionally, we had requested a specific type of champagne for one of our specialty drinks, but the waiter brought out a completely different, cheaper option that did not suit our recipe. He claimed that the other waiter had mixed up the bottles and he had no idea which one belonged to us. This felt very unprofessional and cheap. Moreover, our guests were left sitting at the table with empty glasses, as the waitstaff seemed disinterested in pouring or even offering any drinks. This level of service is not something you would expect from a highly-rated restaurant. When the waiters finally did appear, I was taken aback to see them wearing blue rubber gloves, which made it seem as if they had just come from cleaning a bathroom rather than serving food to guests. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
Additionally, I encountered dirty forks and knives that dropped from the servers' hands, making the floor greasy and slippery. I also anticipated that wine and other beverages would be poured or at least offered to guests, but instead, it felt more like a self-service Chinese buffet than a fine dining experience. The utensils were wrapped in napkins like you might find in a lunchroom, rather than being elegantly displayed. If you truly want to enjoy both exquisite food and a five-star service experience, I would recommend considering a different venue.
Never again! This restaurant is famous for its delicious food, which is why we chose it to host a banquet for 25 people to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, it turned into a disaster, despite the food being tasty as usual. The quantity served was only half of what we expected based on our previous visits. Two of the menu items were completely missing, and I can't believe we were left at tables with empty plates, waiting for dessert for an entire hour! Half of our guests ended up leaving without any cake because there weren't enough clean plates to serve it on time. We feel our guests were disrespected, and we are extremely disappointed with the unprofessional management and service. The waitstaff seemed unaware of their basic responsibilities and lacking essential skills. When we asked them before the event to arrange the napkins decoratively, they simply replied that they didn't know how to do it and then proceeded to use their cell phones. It's truly shameful! We never received a refund for the missing food or our deposit. This is a disgraceful and unprofessional way to run a business.
We were invited to a banquet on August 27th to CHINAR on Staten island. We have been to this restaurant before but it never looked so neglected and dirty. First thing that caught my eyes was the front of the restaurant- very unkept andneglected...weeds were consuming the entire outdoor area.. some weeds were plucked and just thrown on the floor, cigarette budsand cigarette packs by the entrance doors. There used to be decorative ever greens in the big pots by the parking lot which dieddue to draught and not watering and now the pots were just used as a place for garbage which was very unappealing. The firstimpression was very untidy and unwelcoming. Another big area that was very disgusting was the women's bathroom... Very verydirty,old and outdated. Toilet seats were covered in blue stains from the cleaners and were no longer white but gray and allrubbed off, no toilet paper in the stalls, stalls were all dirty with brown stains and rusted and looked like they were notcleaned in months, floors were cracked and dirty, there was a huge brown hand towel roll just standing by the sink which was allwet from people trying to rip off the tissue with wet hands. it's not so hard to install a dispenser. The restaurant also seemedto be very understaffed. Usually each party gets a waiter or 2 who is there to serve the food and alcohol to the guests for thatone party...we had no server at our party unless we called them. There were about 3 other parties and a few individual tableson the other side of the restaurant besides us. It was obvious the waiters were serving the other parties in the next hall aswell and could not handle the amount of guests to provide quality service. The only reason I am giving two stars is because thefood was absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef! However the quantity of food was way less than we usually experienced. A banquet booked for a special occasion. For the pro-person price there was certainly a lack of food. I thought it was just me when I was host/dance and just didn't get the chance to eat, but the following day most guests complained that they left the Russian restaurant literally hungry for the first time in their lives. The manager tried to convince us that our company was super big eaters, so nothing was left on the plates. How nice! Most people did not even taste more than two dishes from eight main courses on the menu, because everything else was immediately served in a very small amount. It's definitely not worth what we paid for a record. In addition, we bought a very specific champagne for one of our special drinks. However, the waiter brought out a completely different champagne that was cheaper and not working with our recipe. He said the other waiter mixed up all the champagne bottles, and he didn't know who we were. Very cheap and unprofessional. Guests also sat behind the table with empty glasses, as the waiters do not disturb the pouring out or even the offer. This is a common expectation from such a highly rated restaurant that did not happen. When the waiters finally showed up, I was shocked to see them in blue rubber gloves as they came to clean the bathroom, not serve food for people. Overall very disappointing.
