The Carpenters Arms - Stroud

This pub is absolutely delightful! While it caters to locals, visitors are warmly welcomed. During our weekend stay in the area, we decided to have dinner here on Saturday night. Both the staff and customers were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious with a homely, generous portion size, all at a very reasonable price. The pub also offers a great selection of well-kept cask ales and local ciders. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the area.

We had a fantastic experience at The Carpenters pub. The food was great and the bar staff, especially Kitty, provided unbelievable customer service. It was unfortunate that it was our last night there. My daughter, who is vegan, wasn't excited about her options but Kitty went above and beyond to consult with the chef and came back with 3 alternative choices. This level of service is rare in restaurants. The food for all of us was excellent and reasonably priced. Kudos to the entire staff at The Carpenters. Just be careful as there is another Carpenters nearby in Missenden which is much pricier. A big thank you to Kitty from all of us.

Tried this place numerous times and gave benefit of the doubt but finally think I'm in a good position to now review fairly.. A small pub with a great view. Food has been less than average and slightly overpriced for this reason. Drinks are plentiful...and more than varied. Service is friendly enough and generally welcoming. Events are offered throughout the year but fall slightly short. A good place for a few drinks..

Forty years ago I lived on the street this pub is in. It was there then but I was too young for drinking then. Stopped in for a drink on a return visit to Stroud, very welcoming, and the views were just as stunning as...I remembered them. Worth the climb whatever way you do it!
