Bidra med feedbackThis pub is fantastic. The ambience and atmosphere are amazing. We were seated in the dining room with a beautiful view of the garden and had a delicious dinner. My spouse and I had a wonderful evening, with top-notch food and wine. The service was attentive and our server was helpful with menu questions. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be coming back.
My friends and I had made a reservation at this restaurant a week before Christmas and each of us had to pay a £20 deposit and pre-order our food (this was not advertised at the time of booking but it was understandable due to the time of year). I asked about the deposit and was told it was in case of no-shows. On the day of our reservation, one friend was very late and another didn't show up. We dined without the latecomer and skipped her starter so she could join us for the main course. However, the mains and dessert for the no-show were still brought to our table. At the end of the night, when we asked for the bill, we realized they hadn't included the deposits we had paid earlier, as if they were hoping we had forgotten. We were then charged for the food of the no-show guests, as well as the starters that we never received. When we questioned this, we were told it was company policy to charge for the food. Despite our explanations about the purpose of the deposit, they were unwilling to budge. The service was terrible, with us having to repeatedly ask for the food and drinks we had ordered but not received. A live band was setting up to play in the area where we were dining but they were asked to move after playing just one song due to a complaint. None of the diners in the area were asked for their opinions, and as a table of musicians, we were disappointed by the lack of consideration shown to the musicians and other diners. I emailed the pub afterwards to request a refund for the undelivered food we had paid for and expressed my disappointment in having to pay for the no-show's food despite the deposit. They refused to refund but offered a voucher for a future visit, which I declined. I have since asked for a refund and have not received a response. The food was okay but overpriced and nothing exceptional. Overall, it was a disappointing experience with poor customer service, and my group and I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant.
The service at this restaurant was terrible. We had to ask twice for condiments and were only offered fancy chips for £8.50, which we found to be extremely overpriced. We were not given a menu and left feeling very disappointed. This was our second disappointing visit here. The room with the fireplace was empty. We have decided not to return as there are cheaper and friendlier options available elsewhere. It is unfortunate that we did not receive any offers or gestures of apology. Good customer care is essential in today's world.
Food good. Staff great. BUT... we (a couple) were seated next to the noisiest, loud mouthed foursome EVER no children involved. This made worse by no soft furnishing to soak up the noise chairs scraping across floor boards etc. The father and son shouted conversationally throughout their 3 courses WHY??? The daughter, presumably (in law) constantly got up and down and squeezed between our small table and theirs she was as big as a house. The poor old ageing mother said practically nothing she didn't have any room for comment in between the father and son's incessant onslaught on the room's ambiance. It ruined our lunch. I don't think we'll be going again.
A beautiful country inn with helpful staff and a lovely room. We stayed for one night after a negative experience at our previous hotel. Professional service, yummy food and cocktails at the restaurant and a nice breakfast included in the cost of the room. A good price at £35 per person. Would definitely recommend and would visit again!
