Bidra med feedbackJust around the corner from our guest house this restaurante is a welcome surprise to Sulmona's already great list. Went twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Everything is home made. Ask for the vino di casa, it's worth the 6euro
We went here on finding it thinking it was a lucky find. Traditional Medieval restaurant for the city of sulmona. Our friend is vegetarian and it promotes veg friendly. After explaining he was vegetarian he was offered vegetable soup and pasta for the turistico menu. The soup had a piece of meat in it very large chunk and then lots of smaller pieces. We were told it is cooked in animal lard and scraps for flavour!!! After 30 years of not eating meat or products this was very disturbing. No apology or offer to change the dish not finished!! Then 6 people ordered only 5 ate as the 6th meal didn't turn up even after asking for it 3 times. The other meals were suppose to be bistecca -beef but came as pork only to be told the beef is too expensive for the touristic menu!! What a disaster. The waitress really couldn't have cared less about the mistakes. It could have been nice if she had sorted her act out!!! Wouldn't risk it again.
We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking the backstreets of Sulmona in the ancient quarter. We were glad we tried it. The decor and experience was surprising and we quite enjoyed it. The food was nice, but not that remarkable. However the overall experience was positive.
