The Surry Seafood Co

During our time in Williamsburg, we opted to take the ferry across the river to visit Surry Seafood Company. This hidden gem is definitely worth the trip. The ferry ride adds a touch of excitement to the experience, making it all the more enjoyable. The crab dip is superb, and the hush puppies, shrimp, and burgers are delicious too. Plus, the view is absolutely stunning!

I discovered this gem during a recent trip to Williamsburg. The crab dip was outstanding, and everything else I sampled was equally delicious—the crab cakes and shrimp were fantastic as well. Everything was very good!

I am only giving 2 stars because the people in this establishment were attentive servers and friendly and great. However, for a fine dining seafood restaurant, the food was incredibly disappointed. We wait over an hour to be seated and then waited an equal hour for our food. Our food did not come to us until after 9pm. When we then learned once we finished the very plain, overpriced food, that the establishment closed at 9pm, an hour ago, and they no longer had coffee refreshments for after meal. When I say the food was plain, it was so plain. I order the company platter with a selection of seafood, my crab cake had shell in so much of it and no seasoning to taste, I may as well slurped the meat straight from the shell, the shrimp were rubber and hard, so over cooked and bland, the flounder was tasteless, mushy in the middle. Incredibly disappointing. As an appetizer we order tuna bites, that came to us so highly seasoned you cant taste the tuna and then the tuna itself was incredibly dry and over cooked. So sad. There is no recommendation for this place. I hope the server we had can find a place that matches her excellent service, for it's sad she probably suffers from the kitchens lack of quality. Also, 4 adults will easily spend over 200 for dinner, so it's a very high price to pay and long wait to be had for sadly cooked seafood. Find somewhere else to go.

A hidden gem! This beautiful restaurant sits deep off the roads of route 10 in Surry, VA. This place did not disappoint. A beautiful location surrounded by water and an atmosphere of friendly people. The view is absolutely stunning! After eating, you can enjoy walking along the pier and just take in the beauty of nature around you! The food and service was great! Fish was fresh (we had bacon wrapped salmon and fried catfish), and the best hush puppies I ever tasted. Water and tea will come in a small glass but refilled.

Our waitress was wonderful. We were a large party, and we were surprised that we were not assigned 2 servers. Sarah took our orders and each was correct (14). She was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Definitely an asset to this restaurant. There was a discrepancy on one of the bills and the manager was called for assistance. He was very nasty to her when she asked him how to resolve the issue, and the whole situation happened when the customer was standing right there. I gave a 4 for the food. I rate 5 for sevice, 0 for management.
