Bidra med feedbackI stayed in the hotel and had the breakfast buffet for the two mornings of my stay. Food was lovely and a great selection, I really enjoyed this. Only negative thing I would comment on were the chairs, they were a little stained and could do with a refresh.
The food was ok and hits the spot but I cant say that it blew me away.Great to fill up on breakie and get on with your day.
Excellent service and nice plates but that where it ends Talked my wife into going out for a nice 5 course meal for 89 dollars at a high end resturant, she said your dreaming Anyway after an afternoon show we arrived at the restaurant and I was excited as we dont get to dine out at swish restaurants much The service was great the menu was explained as you get to upgrade to better meals for an extra cost of course The first course came out 1 oyster each great, wife dont like oysters there both mine The next course arrived and sweet potato and cashew dip served with pita bread, wifes happy now, it was her favourite Watching the next course, big plates, being carried across the floor I'm getting excited, meal served, seasonal inspired vegetables, a slither of beetroot, 2 segments of orange and some rocket. I looked at my wife and she was laughing at the expression of disappointment on my face, I must admit I wanted to laugh as well. I wonder what Pete and Manu would score this out of 10 Anyway the next courses were the same big plates miniscule meals. I always forget when you order a chicken meal at a restaurant thats all you get a small piece of chook no fries with that. So to wrap it up as the wife said, the deal looks to good to be true and she was right. Paid the bill a hundred bucks and went home hungry after 6 courses.
We came on a Groupon voucher for 5 courses and a bottle of wine. We choose some drinks rather than the bottle of wine as we are not great wine drinkers. The promotions conjures up great food and value but when you look at the servings there is nothing really there. Almost all the plates, though attractive and skilfully assembled, lack substance and flavour. The quinoa and sunflower seed roll, garlic and tarragon butter is a dinner roll warmed up with melted butter, no different from one out of a supermarket. The waygu beef bresola is very very thinly sliced tasting like salami. The pickled beetroot salad is well present but is merely a few shavings of beetroot. The confit pork belly may look attractive but the crackling does not crackle, is chewy and inedible. The accessories on the plate tastes as though they have been quickly deep fried and in stale oil. The summer berry pavlova was overly sweet and not nice. Service was friendly and the room had a nice ambiance. Sorry to be so critical but the meal seems to be put together rather than cooked.
We came for a 'Christmas in July ' dinner last week on a Groupon special and I have learnt my lesson...you get what you pay for. We waited 45 minutes for the food which was brought out all at once on a piece of slate. Portions were minute and were eaten from bread and butter plates. The salad was basic to say the least with mayonnaise squirted all over it. There was no Christmas atmosphere at all just generic music blasting away. Shame on you Swiss Hotel, a poor effort.
