Recently went to this place for a group dinner on a set menu for $45 per head, not including alcohol. Was promised appetisers outside in the garden followed by main course & dessert inside.Arrived on time as per requested, ushered outside, to dirty, dusty, falling to pieces outside chairs scattered around what could be a really lovely garden setting. Our promised appetisers arrived, a cube of stale, dried out raisen loaf, with a small hard piece of feta on top, drizzled with balsamic vinegar - that's it, we got 2 pieces of this for so called "appetiser"! On to main meal, choice of pork belly or lamb.. Lamb came on a slice of sweet potato and a gravey... that's it.. Pork belly at least had some veges, mains were OK, but nothing worth the wrap or cost. Dessert, Apple crumble or sorbet. I can't complain about the service that the one waitress gave us, she was brilliant and was friendly and efficient. But this tired, old, rather sad looking place needs major attention to its menu and decor before it can charge these type of prices. My recommendation is go to the pizza place up the road, the pizzas are good.
We took a chance on this property, sight unseen, and have no regrets for having done so.Which is not to say there is no room for improvement. The advertised balcony rooms are all closed for renovation, so we had a "Tuscany Villa" separate from the main building. This had one of the most comfortable hotel beds my wife and I have experienced. Trouble was, there were two of these queen size beds in a room clearly meant for one. So watching the wall-mounted TV required either rearrangement of the beds, sitting on small, hard bentwood chairs, or training as a contortionist to see the TV. However, little time was spent in the room, but in the convivial atmosphere of the bar, where it became immediately clear that our friendly host Damian has a real appreciation for the excellent local wines. It was a late night, especially as Damian and I shared an excellent bottle of Shiraz, with a Muscat nightcap while watching the Singapore Grand Prix.Renovations are due for completion in February, and we look forward to a return visit then.
Held the "Little One's" 18th Birthday in the Garden Pavilion at this gorgeous Hotel and was absolutely delighted with the whole place. The venue alone added some class to the event, and was suitably separate from the main building. The service was excellent and the food was plentiful and oh so tasty. I also noted the very responsible service of alcohol (which is so appreciated when catering for this age group). Thanks to Damien and Sonya for their friendly hospitality to a young group of people. I would highly recommend this venue for group parties of any kind.
Just ducked in to have a quick look around, they just had a wedding the night before so we could see how great it would have been out in the garden setting. Accommodation on site looks great. Might have to stay overnight and enjoy a meal and a few drinks.
