Loved the barley with matcha ice cream dessert. The barley is big and grainy for good texture (not mushy like some in Taipei) and the ice cream is not too sweet.
Good choice for Japanese mocha dessert. The service was very good and friendly.
Fresh whisked matcha and delicious mochi. My favorite dessert bowl in Taiwan. It doesn’t get better. The ingredients are not too sweet, and the matcha flavor is robust. 5 stars!!
Very simple nicely-presented dessert in a surprisingly cute stall in this little nook/alley filled with other hidden gems. Staff is very friendly and will point you to a table quickly. I am a huge fan of pearl barley— even with the crunchy dark center that usually comes with it. This shop makes it without the crunchy center, which gives the barley soup a very nice texture (similar to congee but sweet! to be had first with the matcha ice cream. Once you’ve tasted and appreciated the simplicity of flavors, the owner recommends only then that you add in the red bean and matcha jello. “Not your mama’s barley” because the owner recognizes that younger generations don’t like the crunch and note that removing that crunchy center seems to make barley more palatable to picky eaters. Fantastic concept and highly recommended!
