Bidra med feedbackExceptional rice spice food that you can find nowhere else. For those who usually eat rice as their main food, what you can find here is something not only delicious or healthy, but a new flavored type of rice immersed with other ingredients. I heard that many people had trouble waiting. We arrived at 15:00 Saturday afternoon, when most people are ready with their late lunch, also so, our waiting time here is around 30 minutes, which will be more than twice in regular dining room hours. For those who are not a waiting person, 30 minutes it is totally worth it! Just come to the right time and you will have a fantastic experience:
Absolutely delicious! Would line up for it all over again. This, from someone who hates lining up for food. This was our favorite meal all trip, which included some really amazing Kobe beef too.
Started queueing at 10.30am while the shop opens at 11am. Staff took our order and gave us our waiting card, 4th in line. We went for oyster and eel/unagi. By the time we went in the store, there’s already 4 lines of queue. Rice was cooked to perfect texture. There are steps to follow while eating to make sure you get some scorched rice towards the end for better flavour. Generally not a meal with heavy taste or flavours but the freshness and natural flavours of the oysters and unagi are well absorbed by the rice and stands out really well. Definitely worth trying, try to queue early.
Queued for about 30mins, which was pretty reasonable seeing as we showed up as a group of 4 for lunch. You order outside when you're in the queue to speed things up. They were able to provide us with English menus which was a big help. I hadn't had kamameshi before, but it was absolutely delicious. The flavour of the rice as it cooks onto the side of the pot is wonderful. Highly recommend giving it a try.
For foreigners who really really wanted to try this, I suggest that you can queue up 30 minutes for the restaurant to open ; I was the first batch to enter and eat tho it was a Sunday.
