Mackinnon Room - Te Anau

Fantastic dinner and service. we stayed in the hotel and were looking for dinner somewhere and fortunately we decided in the hotel restaurant. the butter chicken was fantastic and we had luck with mushroom soup on the menu, one of our favorites. all meal times were great, definitely recommend when you specify in te anau.

We ordered steak. It came with rock hard beetroot. Grisly, fatty steak which we found extremely tough to cut. It was very difficult to pay $39.50 for this meal. The saving grace was a small pie on the plate and the service which was outstanding.

Fancy, stuffy, expensive, but not very good. The lamb was dry, and the duck thick with fat. The venison was tough and the table knife dull, so that only vigorous sawing made it possible to cut.

We had a very wonderful dinner tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday. They even surprised him with a slice of birth day cake. That made the day extra special. Food was delicious. No wonder this place is recommended. Thank you very much for a great dinner.
