What a great place. So much charm and character a cross between industrial and Día de los Muertos! Love the colorful, life affirming day of the dead Sugar Skulls! And the dolls...too cool. There was a place up front, to sit that was almost all windows so people watchers or sunlight lovers could sit. A bar to sit at with the obligatory TV's and sports on. There was also an outside sidewalk section that looked well cared for. Service was fine very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was a little overwhelmed at one point but she was handling it well. The food was delicious and happy to see so many items on the menu that is not just tacos, burritos, and fajitas. Seems to be standard fair in many Mexican restaurants. Not complaining, really, but the food is so much more than those three. Ah, well, I guess restaurant owners trying to cater to American tastes while maintaining some tradition. This is what I particularly liked about Taco Tequila some real Mexican food and variety. Although, I was slightly disappointed at the lack of flan, and the fried ice cream, wasn't really fried (usually ice cream in a flour tortilla and flash fried so the tortilla is crunchy but the ice cream stays cold. In this case, the fried icecream effect was recreated with corn flakes and coconut which was a great choice! Delicious...but not fried ice cream. Oh, well, I guess no one in this world gets to have their fried ice cream and eat it. : D To be honest, I didn't look at the prices but I didn't have a heart attack when the bill came. Seemed about right.
We found this place as we were hunting for food after a quick visit to Terre Haute, IN. The food came in a large amount. The drink is fine. My partner didn’t finish his tortilla as it was SO big and he kept the leftover for lunch the following day.
Perfecto as always!!! I love this place is not the same flavor as all those Mexican restaurants everywhere, the same flavor on all. This is Perfect!!
I usually don’t crave Mexican cuisine if I’m not outside my home state but once and a while there are exceptions! Luckily when researching a place, Taco Tequila’s was right near my hotel with a brisk walk. Taco Tequila isn’t entirely a huge restaurant, but they do draw in a decent crowd so if you are a bigger party you might have to wait. Arriving, I was seated almost promptly and was given a menu, water, and chips with dip to start. I wouldn’t say I’ve tried everything but everything I’ve tried has been quite enjoyable. The tacos are double the tortilla with nicely marinated meats, the fajitas are sizzling hot and fulfilling, and the fried Mexican ice cream packs a crunch! The people are nice, and the atmosphere isn’t stuffy, something I personally enjoy in a smaller space. They do serve alcohol with a variety. I usually get a whiskey, but I have tried their margaritas and pina coladas which are good too, just don’t give yourself a brain freeze! I’ve already been here more than once and when I’m in town I’ll probably come back for a quick taco fix. If you’re from the area you’ve most likely have tried it but if you haven’t, give it a shot!
