Barview Jetty County Campground

The park itself is absolutely wonderful! On our first day, the staff were friendly and helpful. However, we had to change our site, which was not a big deal, but it was ready by 10 AM. The young blonde in the office seemed unhappy with her job, and it showed in her treatment of customers. She insisted that we pack up and wait at the Jetty for three hours instead of simply checking the list to see if our new site was cleaned and available. It took me calling to speak with someone else before we received any assistance. Considering we had already been there for two days and the new site was just two down from our current location, this was frustrating. We have another move planned for tomorrow, two sites down from the one we are moving to now, and I hope that experience will be better. I would love to share more about the beauty of this location, but it is overshadowed by the extremely poor customer service. If I hadn’t already paid and if campsites weren’t so scarce, I probably would have left. I was so upset I was nearly in tears. This definitely isn't how a family vacation should be!

The campground is quite lovely, and the bathrooms were kept clean. The cabins are nice as well, but my main issue was with the mattresses. They are the standard cabin variety, but not very comfortable. However, if campers bring their own air mattresses, they'll have a much better experience. Overall, we had a great time during our stay!

Next time I go camping at the coast, I plan to stay here. The rates are fantastic. I noticed bathrooms, but I didn't see any showers, so I hope they are available. The ocean views are beautiful, and it seems like there’s a walking or hiking trail nearby. I'm really looking forward to visiting!

Pros: clean, block from beach, easy to park our camper, overall good location, reasonably priced, working hookups, friendly staff. Cons: no wifi, closed bathrooms, short staffed

Would NOT recommend for tent campers. Lots of hidden fees when you show up to check in, even after paying upfront when booking. Our cost online was $89, showed up to check in and they charged us $38 more. When I asked where they post online about extra fees upon arrival, the teenagers running the check in booth said they've looked and can't find them on the website. Also, park hosts don't control campers so you'll hear drunk campers screaming all hours of the night. Choose a site AWAY from the playground. Our friends were directly across from the playground and the drama was unreal. Kids cussing up a storm, using racial slurs, kids physically hurting other kids non stop. I had to stop a physical fight between an adult man and a teenage boy (who did not know each other). It was a wild camping trip, to say the least. Three stars for close location to a truly beautiful beach and well maintained bathrooms! If you're in an RV, you may be able to escape the drama, the drunken campers, the unsupervised children all over the place and the never ending noise.
