I would not recommend Kelso Street Takeaways in Tokoroa. We ordered sweet and sour pork, but the pork tasted off, as though it was freezer burnt, which was quite unpleasant. The chicken chow mein was tasteless and only comes in one size, large. As for the customer service, the staff don't smile and are not very welcoming to customers. The atmosphere is quite eerie, and the younger girl always seems miserable. I won’t be returning to this takeaway; I am very dissatisfied.

I absolutely loved the batter—it's light and flavorful! The chips were also a big hit, perfectly cooked. I tried the chicken fried rice, which was delicious, and I ended my meal with a classic lime milkshake. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3.

Great prices and a clean establishment. The crumbed chicken in their reasonably priced dinner packs is delicious. The batter is just right—not too thick or greasy, unlike many fish and chip places in Tokoroa. The owners are local and have been around for a while; their son went to school with mine.
