Homu - Torino

We were in our 3rd week of travelling through Italy and we wanted to eat something else. We asked our hotel about other kinds of food options and they recommended Homu. They said the quality of the food here was better than other places and we do love Japanese food. We arrived and were seated promptly. Although we all knew some Japanese we were surprised that the staff there did not. They owner, manager and all the staff were Chinese and they only understood Italian (which we did not know well, other than some basic words). With the language barrier (they could not speak any English) we managed to convey what we wanted to eat and it all worked out OK. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect so that when we were done we were satisfied and full without feeling stuffed and we did not leave waste behind. Other than another couple who had dogs with them (dogs go everywhere with their owners in Italy, including in restaurants, food and grocery stores, etc) and the dogs barked an awful lot which we found disturbing for our meal. So the place was good but not great.

We went back to Homu last week and I must say we were not disappointed. The service has even improved and the freshness of products and their presentation is simply stunning. Well done again!

I found this restaurant through Tripadvisor and went there on the 2nd january 2014. We weren't expecting such large portions for the rice, so we ordered appetisers before. Everything was fresh, well presented and very very good. Just a pity we were unable to finish our plates! Will be back soon!
