Gabby's - Toronto

I used this bar/restaurant mainly due to it's location (in the basement of my hotel) and close to The Phoenix Theatre. I wasn't expecting much, but drawn by the reasonable prices I decided to partake. The first night I had brisket burger - very tasty and big chunky fries. The second night I had the grilled steak sandwich - cooked to perfection and very very filling. I have since discovered that Gabbys is part of chain. Don't let this put you off. Good selection of beer and for me, great malt whiskey at a sensible price. I think you might tell I enjoyed it.

I don't ever expect much from a local neighborhood bar but I was wrong this time, I ordered chicken wings and salad, the wings were extremely good and that is a huge compliment from me as I am from upstate NY and accustomed to authentic buffalo wings. I also had a warm goat cheese salad that was to die for! I was really shocked the salad was fresh and GOOD! WOW!. I will definitely visit again. The place wasnt much to look at but ignore that, sample the food.

Stop by before concert at Phoenix. Atmosphere: Quaint little pub with several couples booth Food: Warm Goat Cheese salad with chicken. Incl. walnuts and baby tomatoes was very good. Decent portion. Well priced. Would eat there again if going to Phoenix.

We've just stayed in Toronto for a week and used this bar most evenings. Friendly staff "hello Rob" - great beer - lovely food and a warm welcome every time. We recommend

Very nice Caesar salad. Packed full of bacon and cheese with generous amounts of lettuce and really good dressing. Fish and chips was good, but the salad was awesome!
