Barley's Backyard Uptown - Towson

I would not recommend this restaurant. My grilled cheese and fries were cold when they were served, and the other dishes my friends ordered (smiling and steak) were not prepared to their liking. Despite ordering a medium steak, one friend received it well-done in some parts. Another friend ordered a medium burger, but it was cooked unevenly with one half well-done and the other half medium. I suspect all the food was prepared at once, leading to some dishes being left sitting while others took longer to cook. The waitress also neglected to ask if we wanted more drinks, leaving my glass empty for nearly an hour. When I brought up these issues to the manager, I had to request a discount for the subpar service. Overall, I was unimpressed and will not be returning.

This restaurant is like a great college town bar. The rooftop area is better than the inside, especially with nice weather and all the windows and deck open. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. The bartenders are attentive and the service is good. The food was tasty, drinks were average, and the place was clean, although it did have a bit of a college bar smell of spilled beer and cleaning products. We tried the chicken tenders, which were really good, and the nachos were also delicious. They have a great "power hour" happy hour special with two drinks for the price of one. Overall, a solid choice with a nice rooftop setting.

On February 5th, 2022, my 16-year-old daughter, 9-year-old son, and I had a terrible experience at Barley's Backyard Uptown. Our waiter appeared to show favoritism towards their friends and neglected our table. The service was unprofessional, dishonest, and disrespectful. Despite requests to be seated at a smaller table, we were placed at a larger one. The waiter took a long time to serve us, and other patrons received better treatment. Another waiter mistakenly brought us honey, which we did not ask for. When questioning this, the owner's response was dismissive. When asked about the slow service, we were informed that the restaurant was short-staffed. Overall, our experience was disappointing and we left feeling disregarded.

I went to backyard this weekend for dinner with my kids. There was a girl named Annie who sat us. She was the best. Annie was so funny and told my kids a joke. We loved her!!! I got the nachos and they were amazing. My kids got chicken tenders and loved them!! We are definitely going back!!

Wife and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat and some drinks. Kim was the absolute best bartender! We never had to ask for refills or water- she was on it! Drinks were perfect and food was good. Will definitely stop back in when we are in the area.
