We usually only go to the market for drinks but on this occasion had family with us, so decided to go there for breakfast. The app is a bit fussy, but only the most aggressively technophobic person would be unable to use it. Ordered breakfast from Tender Cow and coffee and tea from Market House Coffee. The tea came in pots, big enough for two cups. Latte came in the sort of glass I hadn 't seen since primary school, far too small for its purpose. This coffee was drank before the food arrived. My spicy mushrooms on sourdough toast was delicious but at £12.00 I could knock it up myself and still have change from £2.00. Two members of our party had poached eggs and said that they were bland at best . But the atmosphere was excellent, as you would expect. Lots of professional families out with their kids and dogs. Not great. But not bad. Just bang average. And overpriced.
We arrived this evening. Nice atmosphere, found a table and sat down. The table was ridiculously dirty with left over food all over the table, used empty glasses and bowls of left over dips. Tided it ourselves and set about ordering online. Wine didn't arrive so went to collect it ourselves, not ideal given thats the point of the app and at £22 a bottle, the sever did apologise and said their runner had done a runner. Wine was lovely, I wouldn't expect anything else at that price. The wine tasted lovely. We had ordered our food and 3 mins later got told that we had half an hour to depart. Shocked we did say that we had only just ordered and not yet got our food or drink. The member of staff shrugged and said I'm sure you will fit it in, I explained that we were not aware they were due to close and perhaps the app or member of staff could have made us aware given we had ordered food from two different companies and a bottle of wine. We ordered food and drink at 5.25pm, told we had half hour to leave at 5.30pm (no food or drink had arrived obviously at that point). We collect our wine at about 5.40 and our food arrived at 5.43pm (yes I checked the time). At 5.50 we then got told again we had to leave at 6pm. Yes we had been sat with out food for 7 minutes and being told to get ready to leave. At this point the staff turned off the music, turned the lights on and started spraying all the tables with cleaning solution to clean them and folding all of the chairs away, nice atmosphere I think not! To say that ruined our experience is an understatement. Our food was at best poor, seriously way better places to eat at a much better price. Cold tacos, minimal steak on the sandwich (I couldn't eat any of it as it was loaded with rocket). We had to laugh at the absolute disgusting experience. We went £55 for 2 people and had 12 mins to eat and drink. Obviously we didn't get to finish any of it but more importantly than that an awful experience that no one cared about. This was a rare treat out, we have been poorly with covid and treated ourselves for a meal out whilst my husnabd was off shift without the kids for a rare change. Absolutely pointless. Never ever again will we visit this place and we live 5 mins walk away. They should have someone to advise people arriving what time they close if it is close to that time or have a message on the app. It appears they are happy to take your money without any thought to your dinning experience at all. Money grabbers! Absolutely gutted a rare treat out was utterly rubbish.
I came to the restaurant for lunch while my car was being serviced. We were seated at a very sticky table with splinters in it, and were given the option to order through the app or wait for a server to take our order after looking at the menus inside. Despite our repeated requests, we were not asked for our order until 30 minutes later. When we finally ordered what was supposed to be tomatoes on foccacia, we were served tomatoes on toast instead. The food was decent, except for the bread, but it was pricey and the service was lacking. We requested coffee with milk, but the milk was forgotten. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant.
This is the place that has made Altrincham a gastronomic destination. Lovely selection of food from different locations. Tender Cow for steak and meat, Honest Crust for Pizza, Great Northern Pie for well Pie, Little Window for more sophisticated Italian offerings and now there is Pico's for Burrito's and Taco's (not forgetting the frozen Margarita's and Banhvi for veggie options. I come here for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (not on the same day) and all are great. There are different menu choices at different times. Each stall is quite small and not a mass market operation so if McD and KFC is your thing don't come here!
