Bidra med feedbackI want to give this place 5 stars, the owner deserves it, but as it is, it is not quite perfect. The food was good, the portions generous. Better than you in most places on the street or in more expensive restaurants. Just really diceed and delicious. And it was made super fast, right on site. Almost no waiting time. The owner was friendly and polite, but his English was a tad rough. We had to point out what we wanted to eat on the wall. It was a good thing. I would have come back if we had the time.
Tryed this place out of curiosity and wondered if the taste profile was different. I was pleasantly surprised by the season balance of the food we ordered. Husband ordered the beef soup (number 14) and the broth was very different than in Singapore. It is very clean, with sweet aftertaste of broth. Recommended. I had the Thai Curry noodle with chicken (number 551) and I was also surprised about the style she did this. I get used to a more acidic tasting Thai Curry, but you are very balanced. There are tomatoes in broth, but it is not very sour and balanced between heat and spicy taste. Very happy to taste Asian cuisine in the northernmost city of the world. Place is quite small, so take out if there is no place and collect your food at the switch when it is ready. Could be good to help your tray back in the counter. Only two people work here.
I had the duck noodles that were really delicious. The sticky red sauce is quite well made the duck tasteful. The owners are from Northern Thai therefore a variety of menus from Chinese to Thai and North. A nice selection list on the menu that is a good mix for Tromso. Would really recommend for tourists for a fast but very good meal. The owners are hands on the food and they are also very friendly. We had a long conversation about their trip to Norway!
Having been to many different parts of Scandinavian over many many years of travel, it's always hard to find good Asian food without confusing it with too many odd flavours fusion confusion. Having almost given up in despair at finding a restaurant meal in Tromso that was less meat/fish heavy with a bit more vegetables rather than just a side salad and chips, we came upon the very unassuming Healthy Asian Foods. I have often steered away from Pad Thai lately and gone for Pad See Ew because cooks haven't always been able to get the nice salt, sweet, tangy tamarind flavours and to not make a mush of the rice noodles. But not on this occasion, the Duck Pad Thai was delicious rice noodles still holding its shape, not too salty but a nice sweet tangy flavour thoroughly enjoyed. The dish came with very generous duck pieces with crispy skin (double yum). The cashew chicken had ample vegetables and cashews and was also declared very tasty and not too salty. And as a couple and my readers know, we are very salt sensitive. My only regret was not having found this place first and gone to Suvi the first night. I could have enjoyed two tasty meals at a very reasonable price, with lots and lots of vegetables by Norway standards before leaving on our cruise. The owner I think was a very unassuming man but very friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone who just wants an Thai style meal or just a good tasty non European meal at a very good price to venture through these doors. It offers takeaway and sit down at nice tables and melamine type plateware with chopsticks and/fork and spoon.
We came here as we wanted to eat out but not spend a fortune, which isn't all that easy to do in Tromsø. This place hit the spot perfectly simple but really nicely cooked Asian food, lots of choices and decent prices compared to most restaurants in town (around 200 NOK/£16 for a main dish which comes with rice included). Generous portions and arrived quickly.
