Bidra med feedbackThis is one of my 2 favourite restaurants in central Tropea. I’m afraid Tripadvisor’s ranking is very misleading. Partly because the restaurant is tucked away and is therefore not going to get the walk-by trade and huge numbers of reviews. Salvatore may be Tropea’s most enthusiastic and hardworking restaurateur. When he is in situ, he is everywhere, like McAvity the cat. In colder weather sit in the cosy inside, in the warmth choose the alleyway. The “crudo” (raw fish and seafood) may be the best in Tropea. It’s not cheap but you get your money’s worth: endless tartares, carpaccios, shellfish etc. Their other great speciality is fish baked in salt, for instance sea bass. This stops the fish drying out, for example when it’s grilled or baked directly. I can’t recommend Pinturicchio too highly !
Excellent atmosphere, delicious prawns and good wine. This restaurant had a beautiful location and feels like a special occasion place.
We almost skipped Al Pinturicchio after reading some negative reviews. I am so happy we ignored them and enjoyed a wonderful dinner in a romantic atmosphere. They typically accept reservations but we were lucky to get a table outside in the narrow alley. Our server was kind, although quite busy throughout the night. We started with a bottle of rose and a Caprese starter. We then fell in love with the linguine and clams as our main courses. Upon ordering the linguine we noticed a member of the staff walking towards the restaurant with a fresh bag of clams. That’s when we knew that the food was extremely fresh and that we made the right choice. For such great quality, we ended up paying a very affordable price. On our future trips we will definitely come back for their fresh food. I recommend Al Pinturicchio to anyone visiting Tropea.
Salvatore is number 1 in Tropea. There is no denying....
Classic characteristic place in the alleys of Tropea, good lunch with fairytale tataki tuna. Good excellent wine service
