Bidra med feedbackIf you discover the old town of Tübingen as a tourist, you should go to this pub!!!!! This will sling you into another century. I am from Kirchentellinsfurt which is closed to Tübingen and this month it has been the first time that I was in that pub because someone told me "it's cool and an institution". And well, he was right! This is none of the thousands of fancy bars you can go everywhere in every city. You don't get something to eat, but you can bring your one food with you and they give you knife and fork!!!! You will see all kind of different people: young students, old men reading a magazine, bigger groups....it's a really good mixture of guests. So my recommendation: go there if you are in Tübingen!
Acceptable food, good beer and the typical Tubingen classic student atmosphere. Do not dress up, go there with jeans, take a beer and what ever food you like; if you are lucky sun is shining and you can take a seat outside with a nice view on the Ev. cloister garden ! Enjoy Tubingen as it is, alternative, cool , picturesque ! Do not expect a star awarded food, but be where you are ; in Tubingen !!!
Around the corner from the hotel, at Collegiumgasse 2, we found the gem of the Gaststätte Boulanger, a typical student hangout where you bring your own snack and order drinks. Since 1782, Boulanger had it's fair clientele of Hegel, Schelling and Hölderlin and what it lacks in luxury it owns in matter of poetry.
Probably the coolest little bar in Tubingen, really friendly owner, staff and patrons... Definitely the best place in Tubingen for Whiskey and Guinness! If you go there on a Sunday night you will usually find a live band playing.
Pros : Great location Reasonably priced The place has a good vibe. Cons : The waitress!!! She came, she took our orders and left. No Hello, no smile or whatever. Very direct! Later she came and said that her shift is ending...and she would like us to pay right then. As we started paying she directly said that 'you guys are foreigners and look new in Germany so I must tell you that in Germany you should always tip!' So we gave her the tips and then she said ' I wish you a well something!' and left. Again in five minutes she came back, apologized and said that she is stressed and she wants to give us back our tips and she laid out a number of coins on our table! We then said that we don't want our tips back so she picked the coins up from the table and left again! It was really weird and rude though I admire that she came and apologized
