We stopped here based on others reviews that said the food here was good. Well let me tell you, the food was AMAZING! I ordered the Volcano pancakes with bacon and eggs. It was enough food to feed an Army and the pancakes were so big and fluffy. I don’t know their secret to making t their pancakes that fluffy but they definitely have some little trick to it. My daughter got the cinnamon roll French toast and gobbled down every last bite. My son had their burgers and fries and said it was a “10 out of 10”. My hubby ordered the Bear Paw chicken fried steak with mash and gravy and garlic parmesan toast. He said the steak was tender and well seasoned and the sides were excellent as well. I would 100% return to this Diner if ever given the opportunity in the future.
I travel all over the valley and have eaten at several locations. Consistently good food and service!
Definitely not what it used to be. All the original servers are gone, lots of tuenover. Manager is not customer friendly. We told the server that it was really stuffy inside (other tables were complaining of the same), she went to tell the manager, she shook her head no, and refused to turn on the air. It was 80+ degrees outside that day.
Tulare, CA, Black Bear Diner is on point! Excellent service, delicious breakfast, and hot, fresh coffee! The ladies who served us were amazing and accommodating. Restaurant was clean and always an amazing sight to look around the restaurant and see all the neat bear artifacts. The wood furniture and decor always make you feel like you are camping somewhere in the woods. I would recommend that if you order the biscuits and gravy, share with at least one other person because the biscuits are huge! I ordered the hot chocolate, and it was perfect! We would always recommend dining here, especially the one in Tulare, CA.
