Nice and cozy place where you can take a walk out on the headland and then go back and spend a while in the café. Unfortunately, the pastries and coffee bread are not up to a higher standard. Often dry. Probably because they have been in front for too long. Rather go back to the castle and have coffee in the café there. There is high quality and more for the money. Service: 2 Location: 5

A wonderfully beautiful place where the lake is always close. The cafe and its friendly staff offer well-prepared light food (e.g. prawn sandwiches, pies, baked potatoes) and good coffee. Concert evenings are arranged in summer. A big minus was the wasp invasion that hit the outdoor dining area during our visit. The poor, mostly young staff had to do their best to deal with these flying sticks . Diners also suffered and many chose to leave the outdoor dining area. The owner/owners should make sure to remedy this for the coming seasons. Apart from the wasps (on my visit), I can state that Café Notholmen is a delightful place and well worth an appetizing visit! Walkability: With Tyresö Castle 's parks close by, it 's just a matter of picking and choosing among beautiful walking paths. Oaks, maples and the occasional poplar create a lovely atmosphere, while Spanish chervil, peonies, giant willow line the footpaths/trails. Always with a lakeside feel. The cafe is beautifully situated. Very idyllic on an island. If the weather is good, it's also worth a visit. There was no English menu but the service was extremely friendly in helping us with our order. We had nothing to complain about when it came to eating and drinking everything was fine. Café Notholmen could be such a lovely place – the location is unique and the surroundings fantastic. But unfortunately the cafe itself is lousy with an overpriced selection that doesn't taste good at all. In addition, despite the location, they have managed to create an environment that is not at all cozy or pleasant to sit in. No effort at all has been made to decorate or furnish. To top it off, the whole place is completely invaded by wasps. We ran out of there before we were even done.
