Bidra med feedbackThe fish was delicious and moist, but unfortunately the unconventional chips did not live up to expectations, leaving me disappointed. I was looking forward to tomorrow's leftovers, but the fish was overcooked.
The scallops, fish and chips were so good, crispy, fresh, real kartoffel, fresh fish. the best chips I've ever had. very good prices, much worth for our big family. the next day again landed.
Since the new owners took over, they have maintained the standards quite well. The quality is good and the staff are very courteous. Unfortunately, the show stopper for me is that when their chip cutting machinery broke down about a year ago, they did not want...to invest in its repair or replacement. Fair enough I 'm sure it 's not cheap to do so. However it does mean that they are now just another fish n chip shop nothing to differentiate them from any other (including their nearest competition about 3 doors down . My family and I have been coming here for most of my life (a little too often sometimes! but not anymore. Hand cut chips are going the way of the dodo which is a real shame. Skippers was the last one on the lower Central Coast to keep doing them. It 's a real shame and I so wish they 'd bring them back. I 'd be back if they did, for sure.
Although the owners have changed over the years, from when my family and I have been going to Skippers from the early 80's, the quality hasn't changed one bit! In the 30 odd years that our family have been going to Skippers, we have never...been disappointed! My sister and I delighted in going down the road to Skippers to order our Friday dinner, to be given, in kind, by the staff, an extra serving of fish cocktails and potato scallops on top of what we had ordered. And the flavour hasn't changed! The crispiness of the batter of whichever fish you choose, as well as the texture of such fresh fish is heavenly. The chips, which I have bragged to many a friend over my years, in my opinion, the best in this country (next to Scotland and Ireland), with the combination of soft yet crispy and most importantly, fresh, peeled and par-cooked! If you haven't been to Skippers, I suggest that you get yourselves down there to enjoy their food. Especially with the beach only a stone's throw from their shop... What better way to end a day, than sitting on the beach with such wonderful food!
First time we've eaten here so can't compare to the past but we enjoyed our lunch of flathead and chips. Staff were friendly and the takeaway shop had a steady flow of customers while we were there on a lovely Sunday afternoon.
