Bidra med feedbackTook a client there for a lunch and we both ordered steak the bartender very friendly and made it very simple for me to made a tab, kept an eye on our drinks so he could quickly serve us again, steaks were perfect and took 25 mins, prices weren't bad, only thing was the steak was on the smaller side.
We last went in 2013 and I recall enjoying my meal, however I wasn 't on Zomato then. I felt like a hearty meal so we went back tonight. The only staff on was a guy run off his feet front of house and the chef. New menu new chef! My entree was the pear blue cheese tart SUPERB! The hubby had the lemon pepper calamari which was lovely and tender with a very tasty aoli. We both had steak I the porterhouse with coleslaw, potato gratin grilled tomato ; hubby had the T bone with cauliflower gratin fries we both had bernaise sauce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly my coleslaw gratin were delicious. We couldn 't leave without dessert I had the triple chocolate heaven; hubby had the apple crumble. Including 4 drinks the whole meal was a $85 (20% off mains on Wednesday) . It was a nice touch that you can customise your meal from a wide choice of accompaniments. This is easily one of the two best restaurants in Upper Hutt the other being Cafe Romeo.<br/ <br/ Here 's the hubby 's perspective:<br/ 'Apparently the missus and I came here in 2013 and, whilst I don 't recall the food back then, she said it was good and decreed that it was time to go back, helped by the Wednesday special of 20% off mains.<br/ We arrived early about 5:30pm and had our choice of tables. Orders placed and beer supplied. She raved about her blue cheese and pear tart for a starter, and I too was impressed with the calamari I had. Both were quite basic, but well made and presented. Both our steaks were very good, and being able to choose from a list of accompaniments was4 a good touch. Madam was impressed with her choice of potato gratin and 'slaw ', though my fries and cauli was just ok. Serving the steak atop the fries makes everything fit on the plate, however where do the meat juices end up? Yep, on the once crunchy fries which soaks it all up... Her Chocolate Heaven dessert was fantastic, and my apple crumble was also very good. <br/ All up, two staters, two mains, desserts, two juices, a beer and an RTD came to $85.00 which was very good value with the 20% discount. That said, my main was $34.00 and without the discount the value for money proposition might start to look a little shaky compared to some other places we 've been recently that do a steak meal for this price. Excellent evening last night at the Longhorn for the 6 course degustation evening. The course selection and presentation were impeccable as was the wine which accompanied each course. Well done to Adam and the team. This was a total dining experience and we will be back.
Went to Longhorn Steak Ale House with a group of 6 people for lunch. We all had beautiful meals. The guys had steak which was beautifully cooked and I had Eggs Benedict which I thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were warm and friendly and decor is very nicely done out.The prices are value for money. We will definately be coming back and I highly recommend this place for brunch, lunch or dinner.
My husband and I both think this is a Wellington City level of restaurant in little ole Upper Hutt but without the rediculous Wellington prices! Not often do you get reasonably priced, quantity and quality on the same plate! If you've been looking for that perfect steak and a meal where you're not still hungry afterwards, then you really have to try Longhorn! We have 3 regrets 1) We didn't try this place sooner! 2) We wish there was more seating available so we could have special occassions here with our whole family! 3) The garlic prawn fettucine is only on the specials board (sometimes) and not on the main menu how often do you have so much creamy sauce left in your plate that you can even soak it up with your fries!
