Meneer Smakers - Utrecht

Love. Just love for Meneer Smakers. As a vegetarian I obviously had the Goat Cheese burger and as Oprah would say, I had an Aha moment . I took one bite of the burger and was immediately faced with the thought: Why did I never think of this?? . I love that Meneer Smakers has gone completely outside of the box when creating their veggie burger, so a tip of the hat to you! Another huge plus for me: deep golden, crispy chips. I am always a happy girl when I have chips that crunch and crisp in my mouth, so I was a lucky ducky here too! Meneer Smakers has a simple but delicious menu and I will definitely be back for more! I thought my burger here was very good value, but not great tasting. I got the no-toppings burger with house sauce, a fried egg, and bacon. The first few bites were quite good but then it seemed to be pretty bland for the rest of the serving. It was a very large burger that was sort of challenging to eat, as well. They give you a good portion of fries if you order them on the side. I thought the meat was good quality but somehow the whole assemblage lacked volume; I prefer Pickles to this place for taste, but they are quite a bit pricier.

The burgers were tasty and large, but a little dry. I know that cook them all the same but maybe take request for less done. Even with that, I'll go back because it was a nice meal. KW

I was excited to go to a new burger place in Utrecht glad the the burger craze is coming to the Netherlands. Meneer Smakers is cool I like the design and envy the simple menu. The prices are resonable too. So... how's the food? The Smakers burger I was suprised to see cucumber and roasted eggplant on the burger non tradiitonal burger toppings. Just take them off when you get your burger and eat them as sides. The burger consistency is more meat loaf than it should be. Sauce was okay nothing special. Fries they seemed darker than usual. delicious and they nailed it. EDIT: went several times, not blown away, moving down to 3 stars.

As delicious as burgers can possibly get. If you happen to be in Utrecht, I highly recommend coming to Meneer Smakers. The meat is delicious- seasoned well and cooked to perfection with crispy buns. As someone who does not regularly consume beef, I loved that they have so many options to cater to all diets- salmon, lamb, chicken, and veggie. All delicious ,with the lamb burger and goat cheese vegetarian option being my favorites! The servers are amazingly friendly, the menus are in both Dutch and English, and there is a decent selection of beers available, including a local option. You order at the counter for either take out or to eat on site, which is a very small but cute ambiance to catch up with friends or eat alone. The value for what you receive is perfect.
