Flame - Vail

Raoul, Emir, and company welcomed us into their family with a sea of accoutrement to complement another memorable dinner in beautiful Vail, CO. Possibly the best meal I've ever eaten. The chef came out and visited near the end of our meal and talked about his creations. The miso mushrooms and the cauliflower steak were delicious and my husband had the wagyu beef burger. Our only regret was not being able to finish it all! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

Had I brought an ice pack to soothe my jaw from all the chewing I had to do this place would have been much better. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to dine at high end steakhouses somewhat regularly and flame missed the mark by a long shot. The 95 dollar ribeye was hands down the absolute worst ribeye I have ever had. I literally had to hold it down while stabbing my knife into it to try and carve off a piece of completely raw (they never even asked how I’d like my steak prepared to which I would have said medium rare) and completely unseasoned beef. You can find a more tender piece of beef at Applebees or on clearance at Walmart. And to charge 95 dollars? Despite the price I don’t think I’ve ever had a more disappointing steak in my life. It certainly wasn’t dry aged. It definitely wasn’t prime. And whatever “Colorado” cow it came from was fed a diet of sticks and rocks. The others in my party who ordered a steak all had similar feelings. Worst steak ever. On a bright mode the sides were excellent. Mashed potatoes were divine. But the sides could be made out of Mana from heaven and that still wouldn’t bump it up to two stars.

Incredible service by our waitress Shantel and Salome. Super friendly staff. The food was incredible. The bread and the different butters was incredible. You have to get the steak tartare, by far the best I've ever had and they make it table service. The elk is delicious!

Phenomenal food and service. We really enjoyed the Wagyu candle and our steaks. What a wonderful romantic experience.
