Bidra med feedbackWhen anyone asked about Japanese-French fusion, I immediately thought of Pidgin, but now there is a new restaurant on this recommendation list – Restaurant Yugo. The restaurant uses the simplest decor and lighting. Inside, you can see a marble sushi bar table, where you can have more interactions with the owner and the chef. This is definitely one of the hidden gem in West End.
As many of you have known that I have started Vancouver Gourmet Club @vangourmetclub) and get to present some of the best restaurants in the city. Restaurant Yugo in Reily Park is one of our new discoveries. Chef Alex, with a resume working overseas and Montreal, is passionate about utilizing his French and Japanese cooking technique in his dishes and working with quality ingredients, both local and imported. After a taste of his food during lunch hours, I decided to take my mom there for dinner for her birthday.
This was my second visit, and for the first time, I tried their DOV menu, which featured some unique creations. Personally, I prefer the regular menu, but overall, it was a great experience.
I went out to dine and chose the omakase as my entree. While it was delicious, I didn't feel that the $65 price tag was fully justified. I noticed others ordering the risotto and duck, which appeared to be larger portions and looked absolutely delicious—definitely more worth the price. However, the restaurant still left me feeling a bit hungry.
The meal was outstanding, beautifully presented, and the service was excellent.
