Very nice authentic restaurant with a wide menu including local fish and a great selection of amazing pizza

Review of Osteria Al Duomo Restaurant Pizzeria, Murano, Venice Italy) If you are a foreigner tourist) AVOID this restaurant and spend your money elsewhere. I was travelling throughout Italy for 2 weeks and this was the WORST service that I have ever had. This place, because of the restaurant cashier and the owner, deserves 0 star. Food was okay but the staff particularly the owner) at this restaurant was the rudest I have ever dealt with. After I got the check for the meal, I asked politely the cashier what was the charge of 5 Coperto for a total of $10.00. She responded very loudly with a mean look: Is it your first time in Italy? You do not know what Coperto is? And she laughed at me aggressively. I felt bad and humiliated. I quickly learned that Coperto is a fee for a table setting. Then, I was reviewing the bill and I noticed a charge for a Margherita. The owner got involved and I told him that my friend was drinking a glass of wine, not a Margarita cocktail. He became enraged and said pointing his finger to the bill: This Margherita is a pizza, not a cocktail. He was rude, aggressive and NOT respectuous towards me, even in front of my friend’s kids. I gave him my credit card and I asked politely not to tap my card on his machine I prefer to insert my credit card to the device for security reasons). He got upset and was very impatient and as soon as the bill was paid $126.00), he said two words that well-educated and respectful people don’t say, especially in front of kids. He said: “F.....k you” to me but with his strong Italian accent it sounded more like: Fouk you! I am from an educated family and I was completely stunned and very upset. Please, please, please don’t do the same mistake than me. DO NOT go to this restaurant. The hotel near by where I was staying recommended me this place. Very bad choice! I am so pleased to do this review and to be able to warn other people. Usually I write nice reviews on the web but this guy does not deserve to get tourists as clients. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID this place!

We stopped in here for a late lunch during an afternoon visit to Murano. There is a large courtyard out the back which is a lovely atmosphere that you would have no idea existed from looking at the front of the restaurant. Between the four of us we had two different flavoured pizzas and two of a pasta special. All meals were delicious. The pizzas were huge and neither my husband or our teenager could finish theirs. We would definitely return.
