Osteria La Vela - VERONA

Lasagne is very good , risotto too. Me and my wife is very happy to found this small restaurant . If we come back to verona we visit agian this restaurant

It is a small local restaurants on the side street. The food was good but the menu did not contain a price list. The food took around 90 minutes to be made. We felt that we could have visited a restaurant in the centre and get better service at the same or better price.

Eating at Ostreria La Vela is like eating at a friends house. A small hidden jewel in the city of verona. Owners are incredibly friendly! We had the risotto with mushroom as a starter and then the tagliatta as a main course. Both were amazing, meat cooked to perfection. Extremely happy hotel recommended this place to eat. A hearty italian restaurant.

According to Google an osteria is: “an Italian restaurant, typically a simple or inexpensive one.” Well, Osteria La Vela is a simple and cosy little restaurant situated approx 10 minutes walk outside the city walls of Verona. It’s location is so hidden in a narrow alley that we were the only guests this evening. It’s not inexpensive, though. We had 2 courses each, a bottle of water and 1 ltr white wine of the house. Price €57. The food is not bad, actually it tastes quite nice, but you can follow the preparation from the B L I N G s on the microwave. It’s NOT fresh produce from the local market cooked to perfection by a master chef. We had pasta with butter and sage (very nice), pasta with mushrooms (not bad), vitello tonnato (veal, tuna sauce dull), carpaccio (raw thin sliced beef with vegetables and parmesan almost excellent). Don’t visit Osteria La Vela for the fabolous food. Go here because you want to experience a little piece of Verona without the hordes of tourists.

This small restaurant is fantastic, had great food, excellent atmosphere and looks like is been running by the family which no doubt cooked the best Italian food I ever had 5 start without a doubt Notice is a small place so try to book in advance or go early to make sure you get a table
