Bidra med feedbackThis is a real hidden gem actually in the chartreuse, but they do not need a ticket to get. I think it can only serve in the summer. there were several different Prix fixes menus, including a cheaper lunch and a vegan option. my pork fillet mignon... with ceps could have been the best meat I've ever eaten. we went with the family, but it would also be a romantic place to dine à deux. probably safer to book in the evening.
Only open from May to September, this is one of the prettiest and most historic places you can eat. Set behind the cloisters of St John (where the Carthusian monks believed the air was purest) this delightful garden restaurant has a small but excellent menu....We enjoyed three courses for 28 euro apiece. The quality was very good and the wine was good value. Many attractions offer a nice location but microwave their food this is proper gourmet cooking and a great place to eat.
My wife and I ate dinner here twice during our stay in Villenueve lez Avignon and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The 28 euro Menu offered several wonderful entrées, plats, and desserts. Everything was delicious and fresh. Meats were cooked to order. Staff was respectful when...respected and always courteous. They even served us without complaints during pouring rain, covering our food instead of themselves. Tres bien!
Finding this restaurant is an adventure in itself. Walking down tree lined cloisters, past a huge covered well and into a leafy courtyard you suddenly come across this unique restaurant. A very friendly welcome, good well cooked unpretentious food and reasonable prices what more can...you ask? As the evening light faded the lights gave the whole place a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
We spent a nice couple of hours in the restaurant. Got 4 menus and I was very pleased to find out they had a yummy fully vegan menu. We hadn't reserved and we had to sit towards the entrance even though the place was rather...empty. The food and wines were good, and the waiter was quick and polite. The main reason why my review is not fully positive is that the waitress was pretty rude when, once we paid 160 euros and we were all pretty tipsy and giggling, a friend of ours dared to ask if they could offer us the last round of liquor and she RUDELY replied that we were not entitled to ask, it doesn't work like that in France. Then she turned around and left huffily. That was a bitter way to end a pleasant night. I would have left a great review otherwise, as I always do
