Bidra med feedbackWe ate here on a recommendation from our nearby hotel - there isnt a great deal of choice in Villers Bocage and the staff spoke very little english. The food was very generous but some of the specialties were a little too adventurous for our taste - we ordered not really knowing what we would get and wished we'd made other choices having seen the other dishes coming out of the kitchen! However I know this restaurant is hugely popular with the locals and foodies so maybe just not quite our thing..
We stopped here for dinner en route to the ferry port at Ouistreham; we found it by surfing the web. This is not a huge restaurant but it benefits from that, plus it is largely frequented by locals; the menu choice and the prices reflect these benefits.Menu choice is good, prices are fine, service was attentive and overall this was an enjoyable dining experience that will certainly be repeated.
The good news: the food is excellent and reasonably priced. The bad news: the young wait staff seemed overwhelmed by a large birthday group next to us. Do try it if you are in the neighborhood, the waiter can only get better with experience.
I had a great dinner with escargot in a type of ravioli & lamb & it was excellent. Hubby said humid was good but didn't give it as high of marks as I did. He had fish again but it was a very small piece of dorade.. Can't remember what he had as an appetizer. Cheese & ice cream were great. We had the fixed price menu..
I am in Normandy 3/4 times a year and without fault always go Au Vrai Normande at each visit for what has consistently been excellent dining. They offer a number of menus which are very reasonably priced for the very high quality of food served. A la carte items are also available. The service is very professional! Personally I find this the best restaurant in the region.
