Sushi Gakyu - Washington, D.C.

This sushi is exceptional. For fans of Sushi Taro seeking high-quality upscale sushi, I highly recommend trying Sushi Gakyu. Be sure to order the Aburi 5 (pieces of nigiri slightly blowtorched) - it is phenomenal. 5 stars.

My son and I traveled to DC and enjoyed the sushi here! It was very good sushi. He had several of the salmon nigiri and I had the Assorted Sashimi platter. The fish tasted very fresh and the sushi rice was very good too. We would definitely come back with the family next time in DC!

I was very displeased with the food and service. I was served sushi with bones in it. Something a master sushi chef would never do. Over advertised quick unremarkable, Kaz is much better overall.

Coming from someone who has had sushi multiple times in Japan, I have to say that the sushi they served were some of the best I have ever had in the United States. The price is a bit steep, but the sushi was so good that I can't complain. The biggest problem I had was that we did not get our side dish and the sushi for almost an hour after we ordered. It's absolutely ridiculous that we had to wait that long for our food when the server said it would take about 10 minutes.

The bento box lunch special was a great value. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. It wasn't the server's fault, but the restaurant should make sure they have enough change on hand for customers, as the server struggled to provide change for a larger tip when I paid in cash.
