Le Petit Bistro - Washington Island

Always a favorite stop, the products are amazing and the service is superb. You can learn a lot from the proprietors of this beautiful Washington Island staple. Make sure to learn all you can about the 14 different varieties of English lavender they grow. Come by any time, but blooms are peak on average during the last two weeks in July. If you want to see the lavender oil distillation process, swing by in the month of August. As always it’s best to call ahead to inquire in the status of the blooms in the garden and when exactly you can see the distillation process. Make sure to purchase those products specifically made by Fragrant Isle.

It's a beautiful place to visit. We went in early July and the lavender was blooming again, but not fully yet so you can't see the dark purple colors as seen in the ad photos. You do have to pay an entrance fee to see the garden. I believe it was $5 per person. Small children are free. There's not much to do except walk around, take lovely pictures, and sit in the seats they have scattered around the area. They do have a bar that serves drinks and some limited food items. You'll spend about about $12 for an alcoholic drink and $10 for a slushy drink for your kid. They also have a neat little shop full of lavendar products and some baked goodies.

This little shop is very nice. The smell is absolutely wonderful if you enjoy Lavender. They have Lavender EVERYTHING! Lavender lip balm, soap, fragrance, potpourri, ice cream, cookies, Carmel, macrons and all kinds of other lavender scented items I probably forgot to add. They also have a beautiful lavender field that is absolutely beautiful If you get to the island while it’s in bloom.

The lavender field was smaller than I had anticipated, but it had a lovely fragrance. There is a $5 entrance fee per person to access the area. While there are no public restrooms in the shop, there are some porta-potties located at the edge of the fields. I tried their lavender blue curacao mimosa, which was delightful. There is ample outdoor seating available to relax and take in the view. Additionally, they have a section dedicated to cutting your own lavender, priced at $12 per bunch.

I visited in June, which was too early for blooms, but it was still a nice visit. Bring your money, they have a lovely gift shop along with a small cafe. I can recommend the macarons.
